Strunk Chain Saws — 1953 (Al Capp, “Li’l Abner”)

That chainsaw is priced at a hefty $229 (and up). According to the Inflation Calculator, that would be just under $2,000 in today’s money. If I were trying to sell something that pricey, I’m not sure I’d “confooze” my audience of potential buyers with that patronizing dialect. “Li’l Abner” is one of those comic strips I’ve never understood and never found funny. Hugely popular back in its day, I don’t think it’s aged well at all.

  1. On the subject of your working hard associated with felling trees and shrubs and also reducing these people directly into lumber, there is simply just no replacement for chainsaws.
